The chateau, originally a fortress building, dates back to the 15th century. By the end of the 18th the chateau was rebuilt in the baroque style. After a devastating fire in 1823 the chateau was repaired and completely reconstructed in the empire style and opened to the public in 1998. Since the time the chateau attracts not only the city visitors but also the inhabitants of Havířov.
